A great leader, courageous, warm, and having strong integrity were the thoughts repeatedly echoed by all who spoke about CEO Jenni Masters during her farewell lunch at Warracknabeal yesterday, and at a farewell morning tea at Hopetoun on Friday.
Jenni will finish her term at RNH tomorrow, after the Board of Directors’ October announcement that they would not be renewing her contract.
Honouring Jenni’s farewell with a shared cultural lunch, in which the team were invited to bring in dishes from their culture, it was a day of mixed emotions as all paid tribute to the leadership Jenni has shown, and her commendable work.
In fact, attendees at both events had the same message – Jenni will be greatly missed and will leave big shoes to fill.
On a lighter note, Project Support Officer Bernie O’Connor kicked off the gift giving, presenting Jenni with a homemade pavlova, only to be promptly presented with the pavlova Jenni herself had made, once again sparking the friendly Australia v New Zealand rivalry surrounding the origin of the dessert.
Jenni was then presented with a range of gifts including a coffee machine, and Aboriginal artwork – one of which was passed around the lunch for all to “warm” with their good wishes enabling Jenni to take a small part of RNH with her wherever she goes.
One piece of the artwork was made even more special as it was painted by Woodbine client and artist Sharon Mobourne.
And, speaking of special, thanks must go to Executive Manager Clinical Services Joseph Bermudo who arranged a large photo book containing images from Jenni’s time with RNH, a mixture of both Australian and Māori sayings, and well wishes from staff.
“I have grown and changed so much over the past 3 years, both as a person and as a CEO and will take all I’ve learned into my next role,” Jenni said.
“The discussions I’ve had, friendships I’ve made, and interactions amongst the team have all had an impact,” she said.
“You’ve all given me a great sense of belonging, and I cannot speak highly enough of you as a group of staff.”
“Thank you for your support over the rocky road of the past 3 years, I will go with everyone in my heart”.
Jenni has accepted a role with East Wimmera Health in St Arnaud.
Farewell Jenni – thank you for everything and all the very best.
