World Obesity Day is a unified day of action that calls for a cohesive, cross-sector response to the obesity crisis.
Aiming to increase awareness, encourage advocacy, improve policies, and share experiences, World Obesity Day also encourages people to recognise the root causes of obesity, increase knowledge of the disease, tackle weight stigma, listen to the voices of people with lived experience, and act to improve the world’s understanding, prevention and treatment of obesity.
Obesity is classed as having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher.
Currently, 31.7% of the Australian population are classed as obese….and rising.
