The cheers (and jeers) of our Hopetoun residents Frank, Ramsay, and Denis echoed across the town on Saturday as they willed their Swans to win during the AFL Grand Final.
Although it wasn’t the result they had hoped for, the trio enjoyed the day regardless, with Ramsay sharing tales from his time at South Melbourne footy club, from training to trying out, and his disbelief that the club chose Bobby Skilton over him (to be fair, Ramsay also admitted the fact that he took out Fred Goldsmith while training “Probably didn’t help”).
Of course, it wouldn’t be a grand final day without a pie and our residents certainly enjoyed their hearty pastry treats from Bow Bakery.
Capping off the day, Denis’ keen eye over the year was recognised as he was named as the winner of the football tipping competition, claiming the trophy for the next 12 months – well done Denis!!
