Our acute ward in Warracknabeal has a twelve-bed general ward, and our Hopetoun Campus has a four-bed general ward. Both campuses are staffed by both Registered and Endorsed Enrolled nurses, all of whom have qualifications in either advanced or basic life support. Both campuses have added support afterhours with an on-call roster that includes three doctors and a nurse practitioner.
The team in our acute care wards provide medical care, palliative care, rehabilitation, and post-operative care. We can provide treatments and monitoring for many common ailments, such as heart and breathing problems, burns, infections, allergies, fractures, and psychiatric crisis. We are also equipped with an urgent care centre to care for more serious conditions and accidents that require transfers to larger hospitals.
As a health service, we are required to set fees for clients not covered by Medicare. Some people not covered by Medicare are entitled to financial assistance through the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement, if you fall into this category then you will need to provide evidence upon presentation.
