More than 100 visitors from across the Wimmera Mallee, and even as far afield as Horsham, Ouyen, and Bendigo enjoyed the breathtaking beauty of both the roses and the fashions on parade during Sunday’s Fashion Amongst the Roses event at our Hopetoun Campus.
Enjoying the stunning spring weather, the crowd were treated to a range of fashions including vintage wedding dresses.
Organiser Norma Decker said the day was a wonderful chance to showcase the beautiful rose garden.
“Thank you to all who attended and made the day a resounding success,” she said.
“Our Hopetoun Ladies Auxiliary have always been such an amazing group who have supported the hospital, Corrong Village and now, Rural Northwest Health, over many years.”
“Our leisure and lifestyle team appreciate everything they do to support us, along with all the residents.”
Commenting that the rose garden is a credit to both the auxiliary, and to member Norelle Huf, who was the inspiration behind getting the beautiful area started, Norma said that, hopefully, some of the crowd could remember what the area was like before the transformation and could reflect on the work that has been undertaken.
“Norelle spends countless hours volunteering in the garden and we have dedicated the area to her, and her late husband Denis who was a wonderful supporter,” Norma said.
Thanking models, Camille Jones, Danielle Webster, Gwen Young, Alison Frankel, Katherine Huf, Marli Horman, Bonnie Horman, Willa Decker, Shane Macklin, and Christopher Cook, Norma presented each with a small gift in appreciation of their time.
“Thank you also to the Hopetoun Historical Society, Hopetoun Op Shop and Kaye’s Kollection, and to Kerry Conway and Pam Clugston for your assistance in bringing the day to fruition,” she said.
“I’d also like to acknowledge the support and assistance given by Rural Northwest Health, and in particular Mel Jefferies for the assistance in advertising the event, and Bron McIntyre for designing the tickets.”
“Without support like this these events just can’t happen.”
Inviting all to wander around the courtyard and breathe in the beautifully scented roses, Norma also invited guests to sample scones made by our residents as part of their weekly cooking morning.
