Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Dr Clare Looker is urging all Victorians to get their influenza vaccine as the state’s flu activity continues to increase.
The flu is more likely to cause severe illness and complications in certain groups of people, including children under five, the elderly, pregnant women, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
40 per cent of flu cases have occurred in children aged six months to 14 years.
Vaccination is key to protecting yourself, your family, friends, and the community from flu.
A yearly flu vaccine is recommended for everyone aged over six months, and it’s never too late to get vaccinated, with the vaccine free for high at-risk groups.
Flu on the rise…have you been vaccinated?
