Our Clinical Support Nurses Genieve Gregson, Tara Afford, and Leiah McKenzie had an opportunity to engage with, and attract, qualified nursing professionals during the recent Australian College of Nursing (ACN) Health and Nursing Expo in Melbourne.
Representing RNH, the trio embraced the opportunity, particularly in light of the ongoing challenge of a healthcare workforce shortage in rural regions, to network with over 3000 nurses from across Australia.
Offering an invaluable opportunity to showcase the unique advantages of pursuing a career in rural healthcare, key expo discussions focused on the diverse clinical experiences, the rewarding nature of close-knit community relationships, and the potential for significant career advancement in rural settings.
Excited to promote the attractive prospects of relocating to Hopetoun, a rural area currently benefiting from a new housing development, the team’s time at the expo also included the opportunity for those interested in a career change or seeking to start their careers in a vibrant, supportive rural environment the opportunity to chat with experienced nurses working in the rural setting.
In addition, the team networked with organisations including the Australian Red Cross, Nurse and Midwife Support, and the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria to explore valuable programs and support services that could benefit rural health services.
