Last week, Rural Northwest Health’s (RNH) Hopetoun campus came together with Hopetoun P12 for a very special Motor Neurone Disease (MND) fundraiser.
RNH’s team was organised by Hayley Smith, Hopetoun Endorsed Enrolled Nurse. In partnership with the Hopetoun P12 community, the event provided a valuable opportunity for the community to unite around a positive cause
Hopetoun Nurse Unit Manager, Allison Fischer, said RNH’s Hopetoun team was proud to be able to help raise funds for an incredibly important cause.
“Our team is incredibly passionate about supporting the community beyond providing care to the people inside our wards and facilities,” said Ms Fischer.
“The recent MND fundraiser was another opportunity for our team to give back and show that support in a really tangible way, and it was wonderful to see so many people get involved.”
Residents Betty Turnbull and Frank White attended the event, cheering on Hopetoun staff as they took part in the relay, supported by lifestyle team members Jodie Malcolm and Norma Decker.
“There’s something special about this tradition of inviting our residents along, it’s a reminder of how connected this community really is,” Ms Fischer said.
RNH CEO, Lois O’Callaghan, said the collaboration between RNH and Hopetoun P12 reflected the strength of the local community.
“It’s wonderful to see our residents, staff and students come together for a cause like this. It’s this kind of community spirit that makes Hopetoun such a special place to work and live,” said Ms O’Callaghan.
Funds raised from the event will go directly to supporting research and services for people living with MND.
