Appointments to the Board of Directors of Rural Northwest Health

 

Rural Northwest Health is a public health service located in the Wimmera Mallee Region of Victoria. We provide quality healthcare and community services by empowering a skilled and committed team, working across our three campuses of Warracknabeal, Beulah and Hopetoun and in our communities.

The board and the individual directors of a public hospital have formal duties and responsibilities to the Minister for Health (the Minister), the Secretary of the Department of Health (the department) and the public (the stakeholders).

The Board of Directors oversees the performance of Rural Northwest Health and ensures that it is meeting the policy and performance objectives of the Minister. The board is held ultimately responsible for all aspects of the health service’s activities.

Directors are appointed for a one-to-three-year term by the Governor in Council, upon the recommendation of the Minister for Health.

The Rural Northwest Health board meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 4pm. Directors are also involved in various board subcommittees which include:

  • People & Culture Committee
  • Clinical Governance Committee
  • Finance & Audit Committee
  • Governance Committee
  • Warracknabeal Reference Group
  • Hopetoun/Beulah Reference Group

All applications will be considered, however, the Rural Northwest Health Service Board of Directors would particularly welcome applicants with expertise in clinical governance or are registered clinicians and/or have legal expertise to fill identified gaps in their current board skills profile. About the Role

These positions provide an exciting opportunity for members of the Victorian public with relevant experience and qualifications to contribute to the strategic leadership of public health care delivery to the community.

The role of the board includes:

  • Setting the vision, strategy, and direction of the organisation, in line with Victorian Government policy
  • Having ultimate accountability for the delivery of safe and quality care
  • Succession planning, performance management and, if required, the removal of the Chief Executive Officer
  • Overall oversight of the performance and delivery of key policy priorities
  • Ensuring the ongoing financial viability of the organisation

Applicants should have a demonstrated history of achievement through collaboration and partnering. Being able to demonstrate strong working relationships, particularly in the Victorian health sector, will be highly valued.
