Rural Northwest Health has answered a call from community members to open a carers room at the new-look Warracknabeal campus.
Warracknabeal carer Wilhelmina Dutschke initiated a call to include a carers room as part of the new stage two redevelopment. RNH management has since worked at committing to the proposal.
Mrs Dutschke believed carers needed a place where they could relax from their arduous role.
“Caring is a full time 24-hour, seven days a week job and there are times when the demand on you reaches overload,” Mrs Dutschke said.
“The idea of the quiet place is for carers to be able to relax and do whatever they want.”
RNH CEO Catherine Morley said the room was still in development and relatively basic at this point.
“We are encouraging carers to visit the room and assist us with activities and information that they would like to include in this room,” Ms Morley said.
The room is available for bookings from Mondays to Fridays by phoning 5396 1200
