‘Better Health for all’ is the theme for the 2020-2025 Rural Northwest Health strategic plan. Showcased on Tuesday during an official launch in Warracknabeal, the plan will enable RNH to pursue ‘better health for all’ over the next 5 years.
More than 25 people attended the launch and afternoon tea, which was held at the Warracknabeal campus Education Centre. Ms Julia Hausler, Board Chairperson welcomed those in attendance and acknowledged the strategic plan has been shaped with input from over 80 internal and external stakeholders including community members, team members, Board of Directors, partners and the Department of Health.
“The plan will map and guide our aspirations and commitment, to achieve our vision of strong, healthy, and vibrant communities,” explained Ms Hausler.
Key population data for the Yarriambiack Shire does show a disparity between urban health outcomes and rural health outcomes. Postcodes however should not be a determinant of health. RNH will use this data to strive for impactful change and use research partners to unlock innovative approaches.
Ms Hauler said that in pursuing ‘better health for all’ we have identified three strategic focus areas – our care, our team and our partnerships.
Our care – we will focus on safety, quality and accessibility in delivering healthcare across our community.
Our team – we will focus on our culture, skilling our team and ensure we have effective and fit for purpose systems to make RNH an impactful and progressive organisation.
Our partnerships – we will focus on collaboration both within and beyond the healthcare sector to meaningfully engage with our communities, gain greater understanding of their needs and target partners who can help us deliver wellness, enhanced health outcomes and support healthy ageing with the greatest collective impact.
“To underpin our work, RNH have developed strong foundations to ensure we are a robust and accountable health service. These foundations are – we are responsive, we are sustainable, we are responsible and we are innovative,” said Ms Hausler.
