Graduate Nurse Program

Rural Northwest Health is a multi-campus health service, including Warracknabeal, Beulah and Hopetoun. Our three Clinical Support Nurses all understand students learning needs. Preceptors are all very experienced Division 1 nurses who are enthusiastic in supporting students and sharing their knowledge.

Our Graduate Nurse program offers a diverse range of rural experience. We ensure our graduate nurses gain experience in every aspect of nursing available to aid in the transition from student to novice practitioner.

  • Part-time employment (0.8 EFT)
  • Extensive orientation week
  • Supernumerary shifts on each rotation
  • Professional development allocation above minimum GNP requirements
  • Regular debriefing/clinical update sessions

Our Graduate Nurses are vital members of our health care team.

Surgical experience is gained through a one month placement at Ballarat Health Services from mid-way through the year. This includes:

  • Orientation to ward
  • Supernumerary shifts
  • Clinical Support Nurse during the rotation
  • Assistance finding accommodation if needed
