Graduate Nurse Program
Rural Northwest Health is a multi-campus health service, including Warracknabeal, Beulah and Hopetoun. Our two Clinical Support Nurses all understand students learning needs. Preceptors are all very experienced Division 1 nurses who are enthusiastic in supporting students and sharing their knowledge.
Our Graduate Nurse program offers a diverse range of rural experience. We ensure our graduate nurses gain experience in every aspect of nursing available to aid in the transition from student to novice practitioner.
- Part-time employment (0.8 EFT)

- Extensive orientation week
- Supernumerary shifts on each rotation
- Professional development allocation above minimum GNP requirements

- Regular debriefing/clinical update sessions

Our Graduate Nurses are vital members of our health care team.
Medical/Surgical experience is gained through a one month placement at Ballarat Health Services from mid-way through the year. This includes:
- Orientation to clinical area – orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology
- Supernumerary shifts
- Clinical Support Nurse during the rotation
- Assistance finding accommodation if needed
Rural Northwest Health now offers a Mid Year intake of two graduate nurses – one at Hopetoun campus and an aged care specialty position at Warracknabeal.
