Rural Northwest Health kitchen support Libby Laney is making what many would consider an ‘epic commitment’ to a tragic situation.
The Warracknabeal Secondary College student is almost 18, yet she has never had a haircut. But on July 15 at the Love 4 Linc family day, Libby will have her head completely shaved to help raise funds for the family of Linc Munro.
Linc died recently after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. The tragedy has aggrieved the entire community and Libby is one of many wanting to show support for Linc’s family.
Libby said she was inspired to have her head shaved after seeing her mother Jacqui do the same thing four years ago to raise money for Leukemia awareness.
“I wanted to do something special for Linc,” Libby said.
“People often comment on my hair and it’s length so I thought shaving it all off would have the best impact,” Libby said.
“I’m going to auction sections of my hair during the family day at Warracknabeal Race Course but I’ll also take donations prior to the event,” she said.
“Mum works at Rural Northwest Health and she is going to take a tin around there to collect money as well.”
Libby also works at Rural Northwest Health after school.
Libby said people could also make their donations directly through the Love 4 Linc Facebook page.
