YCHANGe organisers will open the doors to the community for a special breakfast on Wednesday morning (January 25).
The free breakfast will be at the Yarriambiack Shire council meeting room in Warracknabeal between 7.30-9.30am.
YCHANGe coordinator Jill Whelan said she was hoping to see new faces at the breakfast.
“The community is warming to the YCHANGe program which is great but we would like to get a lot more people involved and have them thinking about healthy options,” Ms Whelan said.
“The breakfast will show them how they can still have an enjoyable and nourishing meal but without the excess sugar and fats,” she said.
“It’s free so why not come down and give it a try.”
A dinner for two at the Creekside Hotel is also on offer as a door prize.
Recent statistics showed a very high proportion of the Yarriambiack Shire population at an unhealthy weight compared with the rest of Victoria. The shire also had the highest consumption of sugary drinks in the state.
YCHANGe is Yarriambiack – Creating Health, Active, Nourished Generations. The program began in July, 2015 to promote healthier habits and address these issues and create a healthier Shire.
Ms Whelan said the aim of YCHANGe was to ‘make the healthy choice, the easy choice’ across kindergartens, schools, workplaces, food outlets and the whole community.a healthy idea
