Auction nets over $8000

An auction of Rural Northwest Health surplus stock has been declared a success, netting over $8000 for the organisation.

A total of 72 bidders from as far as Horsham, Rainbow and Hopetoun registered for the auction and 240 of the 244 lots were sold.

Auction organiser and RNH logistics administration officer Jeffrey Anderson said it was a resounding success.

“There were more bidders that we expected so bidding was very competitive all day,” Mr Anderson said.

“The big winners for the day were local community groups who picked up plenty of bargains for their various organisations, particularly with furniture,” he said.

“Local charity the Elli Martha Fund will also benefit from the day, with auctioneer Aaron Zwar from Elders Warracknabeal, donating his commission from the sale to the charity.

“It’s a very generous gesture because we made him work hard for the entire afternoon.”
